2018 has begun, uni is back in full swing for me and most of us have probably forgotten the New Year’s resolutions we made just a few weeks ago. I’m personally not a believer in those – I’d much rather make promises to myself because those goals I’ve set for myself are going to benefit me, rather than for the sake of keeping up with a resolution. Anyone else feel this way? Nevertheless, I’m having a bit of a self-reflection day and I decided to round up five things that I have learned so far this year.
-
There is a fine line between treating yourself and self-indulgence.
It feels good to treat yourself. So good that it’s easy to keep doing it again, and again. Here’s the thing – treating yourself is a once in a while indulgence and doing it too often isn’t exactly healthy. Too much of a good thing can turn it into a bad thing.
-
Core workouts are the devil.
I did one of those on Wednesday and I’m still aching all over – it’s Saturday. How many more of these do I have to do before my abs get over their shyness and come out to say hi?
-
Get things done when you have time to spare.
That mindset of “I’ll have more time later on, I’ll just do it then” is dangerous. I mean, I’ve been making big efforts to avoid procrastination as it is but trying to pass this off as rationalising isn’t the best idea. If you have time now, just get it done.
-
Runny eggs are gooood.
On hot toast with plenty of butter and covered in black pepper, mmm. I’ve been missing out for a long time.
-
Forgiveness.
Something that many people never learn to do in a lifetime. Forgiveness is not synonymous with being a doormat, but that doesn’t mean that holding a grudge for the sake of being right makes you the winner either. The ability to forgive is a true sign of strength and self-confidence – something we should all aspire to no matter how ridiculous things get.
I hope 2018 is going well for you all. If you’ve made resolutions, I’d love to hear some of yours and how they’re coming along so far! Let’s keep each other accountable and share stories. You go girl.

I couldn’t agree more about making resolutions – and runny eggs haha
Haha runny eggs are yummyyy, can’t believe I never used to like them as a kid!
Coming out of the festive season, that first lesson could not be more true! I got way into indulging myself, both with food and buying things, that now I’ve had to rein that back under control haha! I’m also with you on core workouts! I hate those! Crunches, planking, wall-sits, they’re all terrible!!
I get what you mean! The trainer made us do sit ups with our feet together and knees out on either side, I nearly died x
Mmmmmmm runny eggs….. Im with you on the goals front, its more positive to think goals. Im doing ok with mine, Iv even stopped with the over indulging…..almost
Haha it’s a slippery slope isn’t it!
Runny eggs in a sandwich are even better. It fact I’m having one tomorrow after this! Yum.
Ooh that sounds like a lovely Sunday, enjoy! xx
I’m totally with you on the workouts! I’m still sore from just one set of weights! Keep on going and keep enjoying 2018! Xxxx
Ahh glad to know I’m not alone! Thanks for stopping by xxxx
Absolutely not! You’re welcome xxx
Yeeees I love it, always fabulous to have a little reflection! Runny eggs are the best and forgiveness is always a good time!xx
Agree 100%! Can’t believe my discovery of how good runny eggs are was such a recent one ? xx
I couldn’t agree with you more on that I would much rather set goals whenever I need to as opposed to a less meaningful resolution I am unlikely to keep up! And core workouts really are nasty :’) Hope 2018 has been fab for you so far xox
Yesss, I’m not sure why new year’s resolutions are so hyped up! Right back at you, hope 2018 is going well xox
Agree on all of these! Especially with the self indulgence, i kinda thought about that lately myself. Treating yourself is important, but only if you combine it with challenging yourself as well! And yes, runny eggs are the best!

Yess you’re spot on with the balance of treating yourself and challenging yourself – it feels so good! Thanks for stopping by Elena xx
Great idea to make a resume at the end of each month, not just at the end of the yer. It reminds us to stick to the resolutions.
Thanks Erin!
