Stop whatever you’re thinking. Right now. Let’s keep it PG.
So, I got bangs yesterday. For the first time since I was a six-year-old whose favourite hobbies included being a picky eater and annoying my parents. Et voila.
I’ve loved the bangs and glasses look for a long time now, à la Zooey Deschanel. For some reason, I just never got round to doing it. I went through a pixie cut phase with a shaved undercut (don’t ask), I’ve had the below-boob-length hair with long layers, I tried a long bob for a while – somehow, bangs just didn’t make it onto the list.
Needless to say, this is probably going to require more maintenance than I’m used to. Any fringe owners who are reading this, please offer your pearls of wisdom, I need every one I can get!
For those of you who may be interested and/or live in London, I got this done FOR FREE at the London Hair Academy. They are a lovely little hair and makeup school based in Shoreditch, the creative hub of London. Besides offering training courses in hair – styling, cutting, colouring, makeup, you name it – they also offer their students regular practice with live models as part of training. Nothing like learning on the job. All you have to do is sign up to be a model, and you get free or hugely discounted cuts and colours at unrivalled prices. There is no compromise on quality at all, since the tutors are always on hand just in case anything goes wrong. There’s also something rather enjoyable about sitting in on a lesson when it comes to hair – something that I don’t know much about at all. I’ll probably be going back to them for an ombre/balayage very soon (colour suggestions welcome!)
As always, I would love to hear any hair stories you have, or if you’ve just had bangs cut recently too! You go girl.
