I’ve heard the old “Experienced, REAL bloggers don’t do awards posts” drivel far too often. I’m not exactly experienced but my blog is as real as it gets – someone once described my blog as a part of me, and they’re absolutely right. Nevertheless, I think these awards are a lovely gesture, and who’s to say you shouldn’t take part if you want to be a “serious” blogger? I’ve been nominated for a few by some lovely people but didn’t get round to doing them all in time, so I’ve picked a selection of questions out of several awards and decided to compile them in a little Q&A post. Many thanks to Emily Burns MUA, Sights with H, That Feeling Inside and Thatgirl4ever – go check out their blogs!
- If you could have any makeup artist/influencer do your makeup, who would it be? Why?
Melissa Alatorre – she creates such gorgeous, soft makeup looks and doesn’t feel the need to emulate all the OTT trends that you often see on Instagram. Also her skin is beautiful and there is a technique to everything she does. I want in on that.
- What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don’t overthink things so much. In fact, that piece of advice still stands for my current self.
- If you could be any fictional character for a day, who would it be? Why?
Moana! Who doesn’t want to journey to the Sea of Monsters and meet Tamatoa? Beats the usual commute to and from uni.
- If you could be any food, what would it be?
Hot fudge brownies with vanilla ice cream – cold on the outside, smokin’ on the inside. Are you cringing yet?
- What inspired you to start a blog?
Honestly, I started a blog as a pure distraction from all the summer internship applications I was juggling. I love talking about all things music, beauty and philosophy – when it comes to these topics, I don’t always have people to blab with in real life, so I decided to start a blog and blab at complete strangers on the internet instead. My readers are such a fabulous bunch, honestly.
- How are you feeling today?
I’m feeling bloody great. Haven’t had a Saturday to myself in a very long time and I’m making the most of it.
- What film can you watch over and over without getting bored of it?
Home Alone, the end is just brilliant.
- What is your favourite food?
Oh goodness, how do people ever pick one favourite food? I’ll have to go with char kuay teow (stir-fried Malaysian noodle dish), KFC, or a hearty meaty pizza. Ooh, and hot fudge brownies with vanilla ice cream.
- What are you afraid of?
Anything long and slithery with lots of legs or no legs.
- The tv show you regret watching?
Gossip Girl. I was hooked from the pilot, I don’t think I’ve ever stuck with a TV show for all six seasons in my entire life.
- What’s your top life goal?
To always have something/someone going on in my life that makes me want to jump out of bed in the morning and air punch.
- What are your most common top six lies?
“I’m fine”, “I’ll think about it”, “I definitely did NOT eat that piece of chocolate”, “I’m ill”, “Sorry what did you say?”, “That’s such a great idea.”
- When you started doing blogging, what expectations, if any, did you have for yourself?
None. I didn’t know I would continue to do it for so long, and I certainly didn’t think I’d invest in going self-hosted, but I have and I’m glad I did.
- What would you consider to be your favourite day of the week?
Saturday! Used to work on Saturdays and I’ve missed my Saturdays off, I really have.
- What is the craziest thing you have done without thinking about it?
Went hiking up a mountain in Japan. If you know me in real life, you’ll know that hiking is one of the last things I’d do voluntarily.
- 2018 is coming. What expectations do you have for it?
Ehh, I don’t like to quantify expectations. I just want to live a little more of life, do more new things, make more memories. Oh, and do lots of blogging!
