The Lockdown Lifestyle

  1. Wake up.
  2. Think about how much revision I need to get done for the day.
  3. Cry.
  4. Get out of bed.
  5. Have breakfast whilst watching for the neighbour’s cat to visit the garden (it’s so fluffy I’m gonna die).
  6. Realise I’ve done all this and it’s not even 9am yet.
  7. Feel like Beyonce.
  8. Make a cup of tea and start revising.
  9. Wish I could download all my textbooks and notes into my brain for the exam.
  10. Revise some more.
  11. Take a little social media break.
  12. Marvel at how much my cousins have grown up.
  13. Laugh at cousin’s memes.
  14. Have lunch.
  15. Make tea and have a biscuit or two.
  16. Or five.
  17. Get back to panic-fuelled studying.
  18. Daydream about what life would be like with a dog.
  19. Watch videos of other people’s dogs.
  20. Decide to volunteer at an animal shelter this summer.
  21. Realise that I probably won’t be able to with all this going on.
  22. Cry.
  23. Maybe go for a run.
  24. Come back huffing and puffing with my nose running like a tap because pollen does not like me, and I do not like it.
  25. Debate on whether to have a shower.
  26. Shower.
  27. Or don’t.
  28. Have dinner.
  29. Wonder if I should trim my fringe.
  30. Put it off until next week – they haven’t reached the blinding, eye-stabbing stage yet.
  31. Read the news.
  32. Marvel at how stupid some people can be.
  33. Stop reading the news.
  34. Do a little light studying.
  35. Watch baking videos.
  36. Fantasise about the richest, gooiest chocolate orange cake with way too much frosting and chunks of Terry’s chocolate orange on top.
  37. Realise that eggs are now a rare delicacy.
  38. So rare that finding them on supermarket shelves warrants a photo to everyone I know.
  39. Fantasise some more.
  40. Go to sleep with sugary sweet dreams of cake.
  41. Wake up and repeat.

I hope you’re all keeping well and staying safe. Sending my best wishes to everyone who is also preparing for exams this summer, you can do this! Until next time. Stay at home!

  1. Totally relate on eggs are a delicacy! Before Coronavirus, eggs were $1.00 for a dozen medium at my local grocery store. Now over $2. Frustrating!

  2. Number 32 hit me hard πŸ˜‚ it is crazy reading about all the nutty things people do at a time like this. Hope you’re keeping well 😊

  3. Hahaha This was too funny to read! I genuinely hope that everyone is able to adhere to social distancing and quarantine guidelines so that we can return to a more β€˜normal’ way of living sooner rather than later… Soon enough that you can still plan on volunteering for a shelter πŸ™‚

  4. Good luck with your exams this summer!
When the panic first started here, there were no eggs or yeast ANYWHERE. But now the stores are stocked. Also there was a press conference with the prime minister on Monday & she said that if everyone continues to social distance & stay home, then things may gradually return to normal after Easter.

    1. Thank you so much! The stores are looking a lot better here too since I wrote this post, there are actually things on the shelf now! Fingers crossed things go back to normal as soon as possible. Best of luck to you with your thesis too πŸ™‚

      1. That’s good there’s food on the shelves now!
I hope things to do go back to normally soon too, but I feel bad for everyone in the US. There are so many people who are still going out as normal & I just heard about the college students who went on spring break & now a lot of them have the virus…

  5. This post made me smile, thanks for sharing and being honest! I can totally relate to the ‘have a biscuit.. or two.. or five!’ hahah, why are biscuits so nice!? πŸ˜€ Hope your studying is going well, despite all the distractions! Have a lovely day! <3 xx
